Phillips S-Zorb Diesel plant at Sweeny, Texas, conveniently located near early-ULSD Markets

Diesel Fuel News, July 22, 2002

Phillips now officially confirms plans to have a 15,000-b/d S-Zorb Diesel unit (see Diesel Fuel News 5/27/02, p11) at Sweeny (near Houston) up and running by end-2003, on the heels of explosive demand growth for "early ULSD" in Texas (see Diesel Fuel News 7/8/02, p3). Phillips has also licensed S-Zorb Diesel to two other refining companies in recent months.

The company estimates S-Zorb capex at around $1,000 to $1,200 per daily barrel capacity, with minimal hydrogen cost.
