Industry survey predictably shows truckers accelerating truck purchases to avoid higher costs of October 2002 engines

Diesel Fuel News, August 19, 2002

American Trucking Associations' survey this summer of hundreds of trucking companies shows that most companies are trying to avoid the higher costs of the cleaner diesel engines debuting in October. This so-called "pre-buying" phenomenon is taking place among 40% of ATA's survey respondents. Another 23% will buy some cleaner-diesel trucks in 2003, but over half won't.

Average time that companies can wait before purchasing the cleaner trucks is August 2004.
