CARB analysis of clean-diesel versus CNG with oxi-cat shows similar results

Diesel Fuel News, Sept 15, 2003

CARB Analysis of Clean-Diesel Versus CNG With Oxi-Cat Shows Similar Results: In tests, CNG with oxi-cat still has lower NOx emissions than a DPF-equipped clean-diesel, California Air Resources Board researcher Alberto Ayala showed here. But the oxi-cat-equipped CNG (which reduces formaldehyde emissions compared to CNG without oxi-cat) still produces more PM and toxics than clean-diesel.

"The diesel trap still appears to have a slight advantage over CNG catalyst," but a "difficulty arises because diesel PM is considered a toxic by state of California whereas CNG PM has no such designation at present," he said.
