Diesel Fuel News, Sept 29, 2003
Daimlerchrysler (DCX) Has 'Lot Of Optimism' For Tier 2/Bin 5 Compliance: Tests on a diesel Mercedes "E" class car prototype (with NOx/PM trap, not SCR) at U.S. EPA labs in Ann Arbor, Mich., helped DCX gain confidence toward "Tier 2/Bin 5" emissions compliance. While lots of development work still remains (including durability tests), "there's a lot of optimism we can get there by the 2007 timeframe," DCX official Loren Beard told Hart World Fuels Conference last week.
Diesel performance also is a key to U.S. market, he added.
