U.S. EPA urges school districts to slash diesel bus idling. Workshop Highlights

In a letter published in the Hartford Courant last week, EPA regional administrator Robert Varney urged school districts to train bus drivers to cut diesel idling emissions around kids. In cold regions, schools could install block heaters to reduce morning warm-up times, and install a second battery to power flashing lights required during long-duration loading/unloading, EPA says.
