Flint Hills wins Kudos for cleaner-burning Diesel

Diesel Fuel News, Jan 7, 2002

Austin, Tex., public school district just switched to Koch's "Peformance Gold" premium diesel for its school bus fleet in order to reduce emissions (see Diesel Fuel News 7/23/2001, p10). The fuel isn't ultra-low-sulfur diesel (ULSD) or California's cleaner-burning "CARB" diesel, but rather, it contains detergents and other additives to cut emissions, reduce engine maintenance and boost fuel economy, offsetting an estimated 3 cents/gallon price premium.

A local green group, Texas Campaign for the Environment, pushed the district to cut school bus emissions.
