States back EPA, Slam Refiners in legal battle over 200617 Highway Diesel rules

> STAPPA/ALAPCO, the association of state/local air pollution officials, last month filed its friend-of-court brief in the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association vs. US EPA lawsuit. STAPPA says the refiner group argument that projects disastrous shortages of ultra-low-sulfur diesel (ULSD) in 2006 "has the tenor of a scare tactic rather than a legal argument." Instead, EPA has shown that the rule won't cause fuel shortages, STAPPA says.
