BP, Shell, Mobil say they support lower-sulfur Diesel for New Zealand

Diesel Fuel News, Jan 7, 2002

BP and Gull have already introduced 500 ppm sulfur diesel, and BP further supports the introduction of ultra-low-sulfur diesel (ULSD) by 2006. Meantime, field trials in Auckland prove that a 1,000 ppm lower-sulfur fuel won't damage engines, so Shell and Mobil are supporting the government's move to require this intermediate sulfur fuel, according to Shell and Mobil press statements.

Shell also called for tougher standards on the import of used vehicles with poor emissions controls. New Zealand aims to move to <50 ppm ULSD standards by 2006/7 (see Diesel Fuel News 7/9/2001, p12).
