Rhodia, PSA-Peugeot, Ford-Europe teaming up on cerium fuel-borne catalyst expasion

Diesel Fuel News, Sept 30, 2002

Diesel fuel-borne catalyst (FBC) maker Rhodia announced at Paris Auto Show last week that PSA-Peugeot will expand the use of Rhodia's "Bolys" cerium catalyst system to its entire diesel car line equipped with diesel particulate filters (DPFs) by year-end 2002. Meantime, Ford-Europe also has "decided to adopt this new-generation catalyst in the near future," Rhodia announced last week.

PSA alone estimates that the number of vehicles fitted with the cerium/DPF system "will rise from an annual total of 270,000 to 1 million by 2005." The "second-generation" version of Eolys features lower total cost, simplified maintenance and greater reliability, Rhodia said. The new system got official European approval in March and also got official approval from Germany's UBA (EPA) when used in conjunction with a DPF.
