World's automakers endorse clean-diesel future
Diesel Fuel News, Oct 28, 2002
Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, Japan Auto Manufacturers Association and European Auto Manufacturers Association (ACEA) last month issued a joint statement endorsing public policies that favor clean-diesel. "Current diesel engines are dramatically more efficient than conventional gasoline engines in terms of both fuel economy and carbon dioxide emissions," according to the joint statement following last month's Paris Auto Show.
"Diesel engines also have the potential to meet stringent requirements regarding local emissions... [so] industry needs to communicate the benefits of clean diesel technology to all stakeholders [and] work with the oil industry to address challenges regarding the widespread availability of high-quality diesel fuels."
