Hong Kong mulling 10-ppm sulfur limit on diesel by 2005
Diesel Fuel News, Nov 24, 2003
Hong Kong Mulling 10-ppm Sulfur Limit on Diesel by 2005: Hong Kong's Environmental Protection Department (EPD) has begun a consultative process with oil companies to bring down the current 50-ppm sulfur level in ULSD to 10-ppm by 2005. Such a fuel potentially could enable ultra-clean diesel vehicles meeting California Air Resources Board (CARB) "LEV-2" or equivalent U.S.
EPA Tier 2/Bin 5 emissions levels in 2007, thus reopening the door to new diesel light vehicles in Hong Kong, which have nearly disappeared in recent years. "I am looking forward to a diesel car meeting the California diesel car standard," an EPD source told us.
