SCAQMD OK's NOx Credit Program For Diesel Truckstop Idling Reduction

Diesel Fuel News, Nov 26, 2001

Truckstops installing devices to provide electric power for truck heating/cooling (as well as "hotel" appliance power) would eliminate diesel engine idling that causes extra nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particle (PM) emissions. So, to help truckstops offset the cost of such devices, South Coast Air Quality Management District (metro L.A.) just approved a new rule allowing them to earn "Reclaim" NOx credits that they can sell to NOx-emitting companies (electric utilities, mostly) in metro Los Angeles.

U.S. EPA is likely to approve the credit scheme for state implementation plan (SIP) emissions credits.
