Hydrogen-powered vehicle aims to reduce diesel emissions in mines

Diesel Fuel News, Feb 4, 2002

An experimental "Zeus" hydrogen-fueled Eimco 975 utility truck for use in mining potentially could cut diesel PM emissions, according to the Spokane Research Lab division of the U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH). Now, Utah-based Powerball International says it will make a hydrogen generator for this experimental vehicle.

The generator uses water to convert sodium hydroxide to hydrogen, which then would be burnt in the truck's combustion engine.
