Philippines study finds high costs of alt-fuels
Diesel Fuel News, Feb 4, 2002
> A government/industry/academia joint study by Society for Advancement of Technology Management in Philippines found that the high cost of CNG, coconut methyl ester "biodiesel" and ethanol-alcohol "e-diesel" are big obstacles for "alt fuels." The study, cited in a Philippine Daily Inquirer report, cited the high cost of ethanol production, possible "e-diesel" engine compatibility issues, a lack of reliable test schemes to evaluate biodiesel in engines, and the very high cost of CNG refueling infrastructure development for future CNG vehicles.
