Western Canada, Western U.S. Might Form Low-Sulfur "SECA" Area Like Baltic Sea: Port of Vancouver, BC, could join with Los Angeles and other West Coast ports to form an international "sulfur emissions control area" (SECA) as is happening in Baltic Sea and North Sea, Environment Canada official Morris Mennel suggested here.
Potentially, ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) also might be required for some vessels in or near port, along with new control schemes for nitrogen oxides (NOx).
