Removable DPF gets boost in Japan

Diesel Fuel News, Feb 18, 2002

Removable DPF Gets Boost in Japan: For trucks, Comotec is touting a diesel particulate filter (DPF) that can be removed for cleaning in a separate oven, according to a report from Nikkei Business Daily. The new DPF would cost U.S. $7,500 while the heater-oven would cost $4,500. But that's rather pricey for widespread application, as another DPF technology vendor explains.

"If they can get the cost down to $500 per bus and $1,000 per oven, they're talking a market of hundreds of millions of dollars" especially in emerging-market" countries that may need off-line DPF regeneration for older engines, this source said.
