Bahrain promises crackdown on dirty diesel

Diesel Fuel News, March 18, 2002

Environmental Affairs ministry announced in Gulf Daily News last week that new low-emissions standards "are in the finalization stage and will be issued shortly and will be enforced throughout the country to check the emission from vehicles including those operating with diesel." The announcement came in response to published complaints about black-smoke-spewing buses on roads.

A similar published article in Arab News (Saudi Arabia) laments the continued existence of smoke-belching diesel vehicles and urges regulatory action to stop this assault on public health and the environment.
