Encouraging signs on diesel solid-oxide fuel cells

On a related front, research by University of Pennsylvania and Ford Motor (see SAE 2002-01-0410) shows further potential for sulfur-tolerant SOFC reforming. This system shows that direct oxidation (not internal reforming) on ceria-copper containing anodes is possible, with a relatively small amount of precious metal (see Diesel Fuel News 9/17/2001, p9).
