Singapore sling for CNG
Diesel Fuel News, April 29, 2002
> Claiming diesel vehicles "account for almost all of the fine particles in our air originating from vehicles," the Singapore Ministry of Environment last week launched a compressed natural gas (CNG) bus and taxi project, featuring a new CNG refueling station. The ministry foresees "eventual widespread deployment of CNG buses and taxis." Separately, it's also considering Euro-III vehicle emissions limits "at an appropriate time." The Ministry was silent on the possibility of introducing diesel particle filters (DPFs) and ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD), which could fix vehicle PM at a fraction of the cost of CNG -- without CNG's toxics problems, either.
