Wisconsin mandates ULSD, DPFs for stationary power diesels in 2006

Diesel Fuel News, May 12, 2003

The state Natural Resources Board last month adopted a new rule mandating the use of 15-ppm sulfur ULSD in stationary diesel engines starting July 15, 2006. The rule also mandates that engines built or rebuilt prior to 1/1/1995 must install exhaust aftertreatment that slashes particulate matter (PM) emissions by 85% or to a maximum 0.1 grams/brake horsepower-hour for engines 100-750 horsepower, or 0.03 g/bhp-hr for >750 hp.

Engines built/rebuilt between 1/1/95-6/30/06 must meet those same limits, without the 85% reduction option. Engines built after 7/1/06 must meet a 0.01 g/bhp-hr PM limit, the Board rule says.
