IBM Printing Systems has launched Infoprint Manager for Windows NT, extending its end-to-end print management software, Infoprint Manager for AIX, to support Windows environments.

The new software supports the Internet Printing Protocol standard, which allows mobile users to print to any Infoprint Manager-supported printer anywhere, via a URL. Designed to provide centralised control of workgroup and production printing it can manage a variety of printers with diverse speeds and handles the output from both PC-based network applications and IBM AS/400 and S/390 environments. Other features include printer status reporting and a spooler/scheduler function.

IBM expects Infoprint Manager for Windows NT/2000 to be generally available from 24 March, priced at GBP3,717.
