Hewlett-Packard Co has made its HP SureStore k rack-optimised data protection system for backup of rack-mounted servers available in Europe.

Designed for standard mid-range and high-end rack-mounted servers, the k rack kits comprise a 19-inch rack with HP SureStore rack-optimised DAT and DLT k drives as well as power supply and fan, in either a 2 or 3 EIA unit.

The kits come in two flexible configurations, the 3U k rack with four bays and up to160Gb of tape storage and the 2U k rack with two bays and a maximum capacity of 80Gb. Pricing was not revealed.
