Apple Computer is offering its iMovie video editing software as a free download to users of its PowerBook and Power Mac G4 computers.

The iMovie software, which was introduced in October 1999, will enable users to import video from a digital video camcorder directly into their FireWire-enabled computers, rearrange clips and add special effects, such as cross-dissolves and scrolling titles.

The software can be downloaded from Apple's web site at http://www.apple.com/imovie. A CD version is also available for USD19.99.
