Worldwide Computer Products News-29 August 2001-Belkin Components unveils new line of network interface cards (C)1995-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

The California-based connectivity systems developer Belkin Components has launched three new network interface cards (NICs) for PCs and laptops - the F5D5000 Desktop NIC, the F5D5020 Notebook NIC and the F5D5010 CardBus NIC.

The NICs work automatically with the Windows native drivers and can just be plugged into the 10/100Base-T Ethernet network to let users with multiple PCs connect to an existing network or create their own 10/100Base-T network. Users can then share either broadband or dial-up Internet access, exchange files and documents, play multi-player games and share peripherals, such as CD-ROM drives, zip drives and printers.

The F5D5000 model is a 10/100Base-T Ethernet card for PCI-equipped desktop computers, the F5D5020 is for notebooks with a PC Card slot and the F5D5010 is for CardBus-compatible notebooks. The NICs are priced at GBP19.99 VAT, GBP59.98 VAT and GBP69.99 VAT, respectively.

Belkin has also introduced the Universal Serial Bus (USB) 10/100 Ethernet Adapter. The product can be plugged into the USB port on a laptop/desktop computer for the creation of a true 10/100 Ethernet network. Features include a compact design and compatibility with all standard Ethernet networking equipment such as hubs, routers and DSL/cable modems. The adapter costs GBP39.99 VAT.
