Worldwide Computer Products News-25 July 2001-New 400Gb file server available from Maxtor (C)1995-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

The information storage systems supplier Maxtor Corp has introduced the Maxtor MaxAttach NAS 4300 file server.

According to Maxtor the 400Gb rack-mountable system is the only IDE-based 1U-high file server to include software that allows administrators to periodically record a 'snapshot' of the server's file system. If a file is inadvertently erased, the stored image can then be accessed for instant recovery.

Based on the Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system, the file server is up to two times faster than previous-generation products and features up to 140Mb/s sustained throughput over the product`s Gb Ethernet interface. Other features include support for Windows, Unix/Linux, Macintosh and NetWare clients as well as for network management tools, backup agents and anti-virus software.

Maxtor MaxAttach NAS 4300 is available immediately, priced at EUR8,274.
