Macromedia Inc has launched version 5 of ColdFusion Server, a web application server the company acquired after its recent merger with Allaire.

The latest version provides a new integrated charting engine, advanced full text searching and new language features to enable faster development of business applications. Other enhancements include new administrative tools and improved performance - version 5 runs some applications as much as three times faster than the previous version according to the company.

ColdFusion Server 5 will be offered in a Professional Edition and an Enterprise Edition costing GBP949+VAT/server and GBP3,595+VAT/server respectively. The professional editions for Windows and Linux as well as the enterprise editions for Windows and HP-UX will be available in June while the enterprise editions for Solaris and Linux are expected in August.
