Hewlett-Packard Co (HP) has unveiled what it claims to be the world's first retail PC that features DVD RW technology.

The new HP Pavilion 9995 home PC comes with the HP dvd100i DVD RW drive, which is able to create both custom CD and DVD disks. According to HP the drive could be used by consumers to record their own home movies to DVD, back up personal data from the hard drive, burn and mix their own music to CD and transfer VHS tapes to DVD for longer preservation.

Other features of the PC include a 2.0GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor, 512MB RAM, an 80GB hard disk drive, a 16x DVD-ROM drive and support for the Microsoft Windows XP operating system.

The HP Pavilion 9995 PC is scheduled for release on 18 November, priced at USD1,999.
