Hewlett-Packard Co (HP) has improved its entry-level Unix server line with new PA-8700 processors.
The PA-8700 processors will be part of the rp5430 and rp5470 models in the HP Server r5400 series, offering them a performance increase of almost 40% compared to the current entry-level systems. In addition the new processors provide a seamless upgrade path to future technologies, HP says.

The HP Server r5400 series servers, with up to four PA-8700 processors per server unit, are available immediately. Pricing begins at under USD16,900.
