US-based Hewlett-Packard Co (HP) has entered the low-end laser printer market with the introduction of the HP LaserJet 1000 product.

The new printer will have an estimated US street price of USD249, making it HP's cheapest monochrome LaserJet printer to date. Features include an ability to print up to 10 pages per minute, a resolution of 600 dots per inch, a toner cartridge that can print 2,500 pages and a USB cord for plug-and-play connectivity. The printer supports Windows 98/2000/Me/XP.

The HP LaserJet 1000 is expected to be available in the US and Canada from today (1 October).
