Sun Microsystems Inc has released the Solaris 9 Developer Early Access software, the first beta version of its upcoming Solaris 9 Operating Environment (OE) product.

The beta version can be downloaded from http://www.sun.com/solaris/programs/solaris9ea through Sun's Early Access programme. This will enable developers to evaluate version 9 of the Solaris OE software and test their existing applications on the new operating environment without making changes.

Solaris 9 OE is scheduled to become available in 2002.
