Microsoft Corp has revealed details of its upcoming Windows Media Player 9 product, due for beta trials in September.

The new version will reportedly add a 'Services' tab which will initially enable consumers to sign up for a trial subscription to the Pressplay online music subscription service. Other new features will reportedly include 14 preconfigured auto playlists, playlist organisation options and cross-fading between songs.

Windows Media Player 9 will work with Windows XP as well as other versions of the operating system. Version 8 was usable only with XP.

No pricing details were revealed.
