Optical disk drive manufacturer Toshiba Storage Device Division has introduced the SD-R6012 slim combination drive.

The device is capable of recording both CDs and DVDs on a notebook or laptop computer. The company states that the SD-R6012 supports the most widely compatible DVD standard and weighs just 0.2kg.

A spokesperson for Toshiba has said that the combination drive is intended for anyone wanting to make the switch from CDs to DVDs when creating and storing data such as photos, files and videos.

No pricing details were announced.
