Dell Computer Corp has introduced the OptiPlex SX260, claimed to be the smallest and most flexible desktop computer in the company's history.

The OptiPlex SX260 weighs 3.5kg and, according to Dell, is 50% smaller by volume than the existing OptiPlex small form factor chassis. It can be mounted horizontally or vertically underneath a desk, to a wall or behind the optional OptiPlex SX260 flat panel monitor.

The model is available with Intel Pentium 4 or Celeron processors, Windows XP or 2000, up to 2GB of DDR-SDRAM system memory and six integrated USB 2.0 ports, as well as integrated gigabit Ethernet and an optional TrueMobile 1180 802.11b wireless networking module, which connects via USB.

In addition it comes with a lockable media bay, internal hard drive door, motherboard access door and rear I/O. This includes an Intel Pentium 4 2.0 GHz processor, 128MB shared DDR-SDRAM, 40GB hard drive, removable 24X max CD-ROM, integrated Intel Pro/1000MT network adapter, integrated Intel Extreme graphics, 17" CRT monitor, Windows XP Professional, three-year limited warranty and next-business-day onsite service.
