Microsoft Corp has announced its intention to introduce a software suite of business applications for companies over the next year.

In total, five sets of business applications will be launched. The first three business application packs to be released - before the end of 2002, according to Microsoft - will be for employee time management, inventory tracking and CRM.

Microsoft already sells bookkeeping software through its Great Plains division.

No pricing details were revealed.
