IBM has announced the immediate availability of a new server solution that utilises its POWER4 microprocessor.

The eServer pSeries 630 is a 4-way web server which, according to IBM, is designed to be an entry-level offering. A spokesperson for the company said that the new server product is designed to be affordable without compromising reliability or performance.

In related news watch and fashion accessories design company Fossil has selected the eServer p630 and will test SAP applications on it then integrate the server into its corporate network.

The cost of the eServer p630 with the POWER4 microprocessor was not revealed.
