Communications and information exchange company Nortel Networks has begun offering an improved version of its OPTera Metro 5100 platform.

The upgraded solution now supports CWDM so that the companies choosing the OPTera Metro 5100 platform can deploy the technology on their own networks. This will reportedly enable the deployment of optical storage connectivity, Ethernet and other optical broadband services across an organisation's network.

No pricing information was disclosed.
