Chip maker Intel Corp has revealed a number of Ethernet products that are designed to provide a faster flow of data between desktop PCs and servers.

New products on offer include a GbE controller with Intel's Communications Streaming Architecture, a 10GbE server adapter for enterprise networks, a 10Gb/s XFP Optical Transceiver that can operate at multiple data rates, a four-port GbE network adapter for servers and a PCI-based controller for clients.

A spokesperson for Intel said that all of the products are designed to encourage the adoption of Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) connections on the desktop and the transition to 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) in data centres.

Pricing starts at USD29.95 for the Intel PRO/1000 CT Desktop Connection, USD500 for a TXN18107 10GbE XFP Optical Transceiver, USD7,995 for the PRO/10GbE LR Server Adapter, USD575 for the PRO/1000 MT Quad Port Server Adapter and USD29.95 for a PRO/1000 MT Network Connection.
