Cablevision's New York-based Optimum Online broadband Internet service has announced that it has released a suite of online security tools that are available for free for its customers.

The tools - including firewall, antivirus and parental control software - are available as free downloads from the OptOnline.Net consumer portal. The software was developed by Computer Associates International (NYSE: CA) and normally carry a retail value of USD50.

A spokesperson for Optimum Online said that security was always its primary focus which is why it has decided to provide these tools free of charge to its customers.
