Data storage solutions company StorageTek (NYSE: STK) has announced the immediate availability of its T9840C tape drive with a FICON interface.

The company claims that the new tape drive can be connected via the FICON interface to servers in the IBM zSeries product family.

A spokesperson for StorageTek said the new tape drive solution will enable companies to manage their data growth while also lowering costs and enhancing the efficiency of their storage operations.

No pricing details were revealed.
