IT development company, Intel, has announced the launch of new consumer electronics platform solutions designed to work together in the digital home.

The company said that the new Intel 854 Development Platform and software solution will help improve time-to-market, and ensure that CE devices such as IP-digital set top boxes (IP-STB) and digital media recorders (DMR) work well together. The new platform includes Intel's new 854 chipset and is described as a scalable, high performance building block for CE developers.

A spokesperson for Intel said that its vision of the digital home is an environment where consumers can easily access content wherever and whenever they want in the home, and the Intel 854 platform and software solution enables CE developers to address many design and performance needs and deliver more advanced devices to consumers while helping reduce total system cost.

No pricing details were announced.
