Worldwide Computer Products News-26 April 2005-Xerox to support smarter document scanning, printing through 'Metro'(C)1995-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX) is developing scanning and printing capabilities for its office multifunction systems that will support "Metro", a new set of document technologies Microsoft Corporation is building into the next generation of its Windows platform.

"Metro" will enable customers to manage documents throughout the document lifecycle, from creation and printing to scanning and archiving.

The product is designed to enable Xerox systems users to manipulate and update their documents. While the document is enroute from the PC to the printer, users can add items such as watermarks, barcodes, headers and footers, and cover pages. In scanned documents, "Metro" will allow users digital signatures and define who can access a document.
