Integrated network security company, SonicWALL, has joined the Voice over IP Security Alliance (VOIPSA), a group formed to promote awareness of the security and privacy issues created by VoIP.

SonicWALL's senior director Jonathan Zar will become a member of the VOIPSA board as secretary and education/outreach chair. VOIPSA is currently developing a threat taxonomy and is documenting security requirements for VoIP networks. SonicWALL has already developed technology to secure VoIP networks from external threats without compromising the network quality.

Jonathan Zar said that the formation of VOIPSA reflects the growing acceptance of VoIP and also the potential issues that this growth might throw up in relation to network security, and SonicWALL is very pleased to be lending its security expertise to the alliance.
