Imaging products supplier Epson has announced the addition of two new scanners to the Epson range, the Perfection 3490 Photo and the Perfection 3590 Photo.

The Epson Perfection 3490 Photo is able to scan either 35mm film or three mounted slides at a time, using the film holders provided. Once the material is on the scanner the Perfection 3490 Photo will automatically detect whether the film is positive or negative, colour or black and white. The preview mode also enables users to view the image as it would appear in a photograph.

The Epson Perfection 3590 Photo automates the whole process and features an Automatic Film Loader. Users can place 35mm film in the feeder, press one button and leave the scanner to complete the process. In addition the Epson Perfection 3590 Photo can scan a strip of six 35mm frames at one time.

Both scanners offer 3200 x 6400dpi and include four feature buttons on the front of the scanner which enable users to scan images as a PDF, attach it in an e-mail or copy it by pressing a button. Both scanners are compatible with the optional Multi-Photo Feeder, which fits on top of the scanner and enables users to load their photos and leave it to scan and save.

Epson also offers a software bundle that includes Epson Creativity Suite, ArcSoft PhotoImpression 5 and ABBYY FineReader Sprint 6.

The Perfection 3490 Photo has a recommended price of GBP79 and the Perfection 3590 Photo is priced at GBP99.
