Information technology company IBM (NYSE:IBM) announced on Friday (2 December) a series of "self-healing" software products.

According to the company, these "self-healing products can automatically find and fix problems before they slow down an online business or cause a company to lose valuable customer information due to freezing of IT systems.

The new IBM Tivoli software can pinpoint and then reach out to solve problems, such as repairing Internet logjams or bringing systems back online after a power outage. The software also heads off slowdowns and service interruptions.

This new software is a part of the company's cross-industry autonomic computing initiative launched in 2001.

The software will be sold direct through IBM and IBM business partners.

No pricing information was available.
