Apple Computer Inc, a computer, peripheral and software manufacturer, has unveiled its new iMac G5.

According to the company, the iMac G5 features a built-in iSight video camera for video conferencing, as well as Apple's Front Row media experience. Front Row reportedly provides users with a simple and intuitive way to play music, watch photo slideshows, DVDs and iMovies on their iMac from up to 30ft away using the new bundled Apple Remote. In addition, the new iMac G5 includes Photo Booth, Apple's new application that lets users take quick snapshots with the built-in iSight video camera, and add visual effects. The new iMac G5 is up to 1/2-inch thinner and 15% lighter than the previous generation, the company claims.

In addition, the new iMac G5 features a SuperDrive with double-layer support for burning professional-quality DVDs, 533 MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory expandable to 2.5GB, hard drive storage capacity up to 500GB, ATI Radeon X600 PCI Express-based graphics with 128MB of dedicated video memory, built-in 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet, built-in AirPort Extreme, built-in Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, and five USB ports, the company claims.

Pricing is GBP899 (inc. VAT) for a 17-inch model with a 1.9GHz PowerPC G5 processor, and GBP1,199 (inc. VAT) for a 20-inch model with a 2.1 GHz PowerPC G5 processor.
