WebSphere already allows searches to be performed across large and distributed volumes of data, including databases, enabling information to be retrieved on demand.
According to Google, its Desktop application helps users navigate the information stored on their PC, including documents, e-mails, PDF files, visited web pages and presentations. It said the integration of WebSphere will enable its customers to reach a wider range of enterprise data sources through the use of multiple software solutions.
The IBM WebSphere Information Integrator OmniFind Edition Plug-In for Google Desktop for Enterprise is available from http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/downloads/omnifindgoogle, while Google Desktop for Enterprise can be downloaded from http://desktop.google.com/enterprise.
