The Samsung Ultra Messaging i600 3G smartphone with HSDPA support, powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 from software company Microsoft, has been unveiled by electronic devices company Samsung Electronics.

The i600 offers a full QWERTY key board with wheel key, runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 with Direct Push Technology and updates Microsoft Office Outlook's Email, Contacts, Tasks and Calendar when synchronised with Exchange Server 2003. Users can view Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and image formats including JPEG, GIF and BMP, with Picsel Viewer.

The i600 also features a 2.3" colour screen, wireless broadband capabilities and two integrated digital cameras, including 1.3 megapixels in the back and VGA in the front. It can be used to make 3G video calls and users can view video clips and listen to music via Windows Media Player 10 Mobile and a Bluetooth stereo headset.

In addition the device offers built-in voice recognition, a speakerphone and built-in Pocket MSN, enabling users to access a separate inbox for Hotmail messages, view their buddy list and chat with contacts instantly.

The i600 will be available in the first quarter next year in Asia Pacific and Europe. No pricing information was provided.
