A free desktop search application powered by Copernic Technologies Inc, a provider of information management software, has been introduced by Mamma.com Inc (Nasdaq:MAMA), an Internet search and online advertising company.
The Mamma Desktop Search application enables users to search their computers for the majority of popular file types. Mamma.com said desktop search provides users with an organised snapshot of their computer files, which helps to reduce the time spent finding documents and therefore increases productivity.

Mamma Desktop Search is able to search computer files, e-mails and multimedia and is claimed to be the first application of its kind to search the deep web. The application's capabilities allow users to access the Mamma Deep Web Health Search Engine from their desktop.
Mamma Desktop Search can be downloaded free of charge from http://www.mamma.com/desktopsearch and is available for Windows 98 and later, Internet Explorer 5.0 and later, and Firefox 1.0 and later.
Mamma.com Inc announced its acquisition of Copernic Technologies Inc on 22 December 2005.
