Multiple versions of the forthcoming Office business software suite from software company Microsoft Corp have been unveiled, including features intended to improve user efficiency and collaboration.

The 2007 Microsoft Office, which was code-named Microsoft Office 12, is the new version of Microsoft's Office business application and incorporates programs such as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint.

The upgraded version of Office is the first since September 2003 and is due to be introduced during the second half of this year, with a redesigned user interface to simplify the location of features within existing programs.

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007, the main product for corporate users, will incorporate Microsoft Office Communicator, a corporate instant messaging system, and SharePoint capabilities. Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007, the new premium edition, includes work-sharing technology from Groove Networks Inc which enables group members to synchronise work in real-time.

In addition, Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 will be introduced for consumers and a version for small businesses and a standard suite of products will be available. Microsoft also revealed details of Office 2007-related server products such as a projects server, a server to create forms hosted on the Internet and an updated SharePoint Server.
