New products, including a system to record TV on laptop computers and a television remote control to enable users to surf the web, have been unveiled by Thomson, a communications and technology products manufacturer based in France.

Thomson also launched a wireless cable modem that is able to carry digital voice and high-speed data services. It said consumers seek wireless technology that is easy to use and that will draw different communications systems in the home together.

In addition, Thomson revealed details of a system which will enable mobile phone users to connect to home systems, allowing a mobile phone call to be answered by any handset in the house. The system uses Bluetooth short range wireless technology, will be marketed under the GE brand name and is expected to be available later this year.
